I have an issue with it being used _exclusively_. Yeah, don't get me wrong, Steam does provide some useful tools and I don't have a problem with it existing or being used. Not that you can't do Early Access without it (see Prison Architect), but having the game automatically update and remind people that it exists is probably pretty handy, not to mention Steam also has the announcements and forums tied in.
